Born and raised in Japan, Kyoko was introduced to yoga at the age of 13. She had practiced yoga on and off for a good portion of her life. Her yoga practice back then, however, was nothing more than the physical level.
After working for long hours as a freelance translator while taking care of her preschooler
son, Kyoko started suffering from severe migraine attacks and fibromyalgia-like symptoms
in 2001. As none of the medication worked, her neurologist recommended yoga as a
last resort. That’s how Kyoko began practicing yoga seriously and daily. During this
period of time she tried out many styles of yoga as well as experimented with all
sorts of so-called healthy diets to ease the aches, pains and fatigue. Eventually
she was able to restore the balance in her system and regain her health.
When a dear friend Margaret Stockley opened her TriYoga studio (www.margaretstockley.com) in Boxborough in 2005, Kyoko started taking TriYoga classes from Margaret. The TriYoga flows gave her a totally different experience from any other styles of yoga she had tried before. Kyoko felt energy flowing through her body and was filled with a profound peaceful feeling. In 2006 when Margaret told her about the upcoming TriYoga teacher training in Waltham, Kyoko realized that she had been waiting for this opportunity to happen.
Based on her own experience of incorporating the TriYoga practice (yogāsana, prānāyāma, concentration, meditation and vegan diet) into her daily life to bring balance and higher awareness to her life, Kyoko is committed to help those who come to the class with various challenges and obstacles. She enjoys sharing her love of TriYoga with students as well as being inspired by students.
Kyoko has been certified in two levels by TriYoga and continues taking the teacher training. Kyoko, a lifelong learner, started taking Sanskrit correspondence course from Dr. Mohan in India so that she can read Bhagavad Gita in Sanskrit some day.
